Sakhir’s desert layout combines long straights, heavy braking and slow-corner traction. Wind and changing temperatures can alter the balance through a weekend. The circuit remains part of Formula 1’s history even though its scheduled April 2026 Grand Prix was cancelled.

KEY SECTIONS
T1–3
Stop, rotate, accelerate
A tight opening right-hander leads straight into another direction change. Traction through the exit prepares the uphill run.
T9–10
The downhill braking test
Turn 10 asks the driver to slow and turn at the same time. A front-wheel lock-up can undo a good approach.
T11–12
The faster side of Sakhir
This flowing section contrasts with the stop-start corners. Here the car needs confidence under sustained lateral load.
Setup focus
Rear-tyre management and traction are important viewing themes. Braking stability must coexist with a car that turns cleanly at low speed.
Racing focus
Long straights give drivers time to prepare an attack, but defending one corner can leave a weak exit into the next acceleration zone.
